The compact Travel Berkey® nests down to twelve inches and fits comfortably in most carry-on or larger suitcases. It is the system for people who do not want to trust the water wherever they happen to be — a hotel, a cabin, a campsite, or a week when the utility issues a boil notice.
No power. No plumbing. Just gravity and time.
Pour untreated water into the upper chamber and walk away. Water molecules are drawn gently through the micro-porous structure of the Black Berkey® elements by gravity alone — no pump, no cartridge housing, no electricity.
Because the water is not forced through under pressure, it stays in contact with the trapping media for several minutes rather than a fraction of a second. That dwell time is the whole point: it multiplies the media's ability to capture what is passing through, which is why these elements go far beyond what a plain activated-carbon filter can do.
