The Royal Berkey® is the versatile middle of the range — large enough to keep a medium-sized household in drinking water every day, and capable of carrying a crowd when the tap stops being trustworthy. Highly polished AISI 304 stainless steel, with an upper chamber that nests inside the lower one for transport.
No power. No plumbing. Just gravity and time.
Pour untreated water into the upper chamber and walk away. Water molecules are drawn gently through the micro-porous structure of the Black Berkey® elements by gravity alone — no pump, no cartridge housing, no electricity.
Because the water is not forced through under pressure, it stays in contact with the trapping media for several minutes rather than a fraction of a second. That dwell time is the whole point: it multiplies the media's ability to capture what is passing through, which is why these elements go far beyond what a plain activated-carbon filter can do.
Prime the elements
Saturate the filters with water before first use.

Up to 100–200 people a day
Fully configured with four elements, running continuously. The same unit that made your morning coffee can supply a neighborhood.
