Prime your elements without a faucet.
Black Berkey® elements have to be saturated with water before they will produce. Normally that means holding each one against a faucet with the priming button — which assumes you have a faucet, and one tall enough to work under. The Black Berkey Primer™ is a hand pump that does the same job offline, with no faucet or hose connection at all.
Priming, and purging.
Saturate before first use
Charges the elements with water so they begin producing immediately — which means clean water anywhere, including places with no running water at all.
Back-flush with air
Uses air rather than water to clear debris from the pores of the compressed carbon filter wall — and cuts the time and effort needed to dry elements before storing them.
Especially useful if your sink is small or your faucet is short. That is the situation where conventional priming turns into a wrestling match.
